Animating with MicroStation
2 days - $1000
Building design professionals, civil engineers and designers with experience in 3D operations in MicroStation will benefit from learning MicroStation's Animation Producer and animation tools. Users will go from basic animation techniques to advanced techniques with an in-depth look at the creation of animation actors, keyframing and hierarchical motion. Students will work with all animation camera and actor tools, learning how to define motion by attaching actors, cameras and targets to paths. They will also learn to script an animation using multiple actors, cameras, paths and targets. Several advanced animation exercises are part of this course including animating with parametrics which will be covered in detail. The Animator Tree View and Timeline Editor will be used in hands on exercises to create and edit animation scripts. The animation of source lighting, global lighting and materials will be addressed in exercises. Advanced features, such as the velocity graph and motion blur, will also be covered in exercises. Users will also briefly be shown how edit and process the sequential rendered MicroStation animation frames to videotape or MPEG movies with soundtrack using (Adobe Premiere) non-linear editing software. In addition, specific hardware and software options to achieve final animation will be discussed, including output to Video CD (VCD) and Super Video CD (SVCD).
Major Concepts Covered
- Simple Keyframing
- Creating Actors
- Creating Animation Scripts
- Animation using Parameters
- Actors and Cameras on Paths
- Animating lights, textures and material properties
- Animator Tree View and the Timeline
- Network rendering and output to video
Prerequisites: This is an advanced level course. Users need to have experience in 3D operations in MicroStation. Understanding of 3D design products, such as Bentley Architecture or PlantSpace is helpful or completion of the Rendering with MicroStation course is recommended prior to attending this class.
