Collaboration is a hot topic and will continue to grow as more firms specialize on specific disciplines. Working with partner firms on projects, presents challenges on how to provide current data to all parties; how to minimize duplication of data; how to effectively communicate design change orders; and in effect, how to work as if everyone were under one roof.

Implementing a Riverbed Mobile solution would negate the need for any of the above. If project data was stored in one location, either in a protected folder on the "Prime's" network, or on a secure storage device located in the demilitarized zone (DMZ), a virtual office could be created where everyone could access project data at near-LAN speed. Since this data would never need to be duplicated or copied, all team members are assured of having access to the latest project data and all project standards.

Using Riverbed Mobile would require the Prime to have one Riverbed appliance and a Riverbed Mobile Controller. Each team member outside the LAN would be pushed the Riverbed Mobile client software allowing for optimization to the project storage site. Anyone on the project team can utilize the Riverbed Mobile software for optimization when connecting via VPN to the project data, regardless of their location.
